We hope you have had a good summer. The current Newsletter shows there has been plenty to see and do. With winter looming the TWITE and YELLOWHAMMER news herein show the benefit of winter feeding stations for these seed eaters.

Most members will be involved in conservation in some way through active or passive membership of LWT and RSPB. The working parties are given in the forthcoming events list to encourage you. Two further options may come up in the near future at Middleton and Conder Pools. If these are your locality keep a look out and get involved.

The value of observations of colour-rings is clear from John Wilson's ringing report and we encourage you to look carefully and report any that you see to John.

NOTE THAT YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD/PROGRAM IS IN WITH THIS NEWSLETTER.

THE NEXT NEWSLETTER is due in mid January and contributions are welcome to Janedwsn@aol.com or to Phil Holland

DIGITAL PROJECTOR

Most speakers still use conventional slides and those who have had a digital presentation have brought their own projector. However, at the members' evening a digital projector would be valuable now that so many have digital cameras and the Committee is considering getting one. However, if a member has access to one that they would be able to bring to the occasional meeting it would be very cost effective.  Please contact a Committee member if you could help with this.

LDBWS COMMITTEE

The Committee met in July and dealt with all the usual things that committees have to do. The finances are sound, the annual report is on its way, surveys are mostly summarised in this newsletter, new members balanced losses. It was felt that we would wait a little longer for prices to reduce before investing in a digital projector. We will put newsletters on the website but they need reconstituting and checking. A NW BTO conference is due and we will co-operate with Cumbria and others to find the best venue. We will continue to encourage members to do surveys and get involved with conservation.
