Tour Summary:
Come to beautiful South Padre Island, Texas for a nature
adventure. From Sunday afternoon to Friday noon we will Dance with Dolphins
and learn all about our six year study with our dolphin family, you will meet
our shore birds of the island up close with great photo opportunities. Roseatte
spoonbills, oystercatchers, skimmers and so many more. A program with our sea
turtles and marine life. A trip to our lighthouse and to Mexico for shopping.

Your Itinerary
| Day 1: Arrive on Sunday. The Harlingen Airport is forty-five minutes from the island. You will be greeted at our home upon your arrival and be shown to your rooms. With everyone checked in we will go over the week's fun and discuss individual needs. That evening we will let you dine out at a restaurant of your choice as there are so many great places to eat. The rest of the week we will provide meals unless you prefer to eat out. If you do not want to eat out we will fix dinner for you. There will be a sunset on the bay and an introduction to the nature of south padre. |

Day 2: Back in for lunch at the house and a siesta or reading time or beach time. 2:00 we will go to the lighthouse and the museum and shopping around the square giftshops and then return to the island for a nice dinner at the house with an evening of going over our dolphin study. (B) (L) (D) |

Day 3: 2:00 we head for the wildlife refuge for a tour
of the wildlife there including the ocelot program. be back to the island
for dinner and sunset walk on the beach. (B) (L) (D) |

Day 4: breakfast at 8 and another trip on the Laguna Skimmer for more dolphins and shore birds history of the area and the local port. Today we can chose to go to a local restaurant for lunch by boat or bring a sack lunch on the boat and see the island homes from the water. Back to the house by 1:30 for siesta and then off to the Coastal studies Lab for hands on marine life study program. Free evening There are many things on the island to do like kayaking, horseback riding, sandcastle building, windsurfing, birding, or just lounging at the house or on the beach. (B) (L) (D) |
| Day 5: Thursday we will have breakfast at 8 and then off to Mexico for shopping and a stop at the Audubon Sabal Palm Sanctuary for wonderful birds like the buff bellied hummingbirds, the green jay and grooved billed ani. We will eat lunch in Mexico and then be back on the island for siesta or beach time. That evening we will have dinner on the boat and watch the sunset on the bay from a wonderful place called south bay where spoonbills fill the sky with pink. (B) (L) (D) |

Day 6:
Friday and our program ends late morning after a nice visit from our local historians
over a late breakfast. You can chose to stay longer if you like with addition
charges for the room. (B)

Fly into Harlingen or Brownsville and South Padre is less than an hour away. Stay at our beautiful home on the island right across the street from the beach. With our own Birding Boat the Laguna Skimmer, a virtual floating bird blind, we will have up to 65 species of shorebirds and migratories up close. This will provide excellent photo opportunities.
Our trips are very easy birding as we sit on our comfortable boat that has shaded deck, kitchen and bath on board. We push the boat up on shore and set up our spotting scope too. Of course we will have to stop to see our dolphins along the way. We will also take in the historical sights including the light house. Each day we will bird and also have free time so that you may enjoy some of the other activities available on our island. We will also have a migration workshop for fall and spring migration.
The birding workshops will be three full days arriving on Monday to get settled in and depart on Friday. The stay will be all inclusive and we do provide transportation once you arrive on the island. We have been leading birding tours for four years here on South Padre Island. Our new home is comfortable and we will have evening sessions to go over the days events. We will also visit some of the surrounding hot spots for great local specialties. price on this workshop based on double occupancy is 450.00 per person with single at 600.00.
