Birds of Prey

Kestrel Previously a scarce autumn passage migrant. Increasingly regular visitor from 1998 onwards.
Hen Harrier* There have been some winter records from several years ago.
Sparrowhawk At least one pair breeds locally. Regular autumn passage migrant in small no's.
Buzzard One record (1994) of an autumn migrant. One during Summer 2005
Osprey Scarce spring and slightly less scarce autumn passage migrant.
Merlin At least one bird regularly over winters on the salt marshes, though it/they are wide ranging and often illusive. Also seen on autumn Passage.
Peregrine The most regularly seen Bird of Prey! They hunt the wader flocks at all times of the year.
