Costa Rica bird list ,

Udo Rijlaarsdam

This birdlist follows the spelling and nomenclature of A Guide to the Birds of Costa Rica by Stiles and Skutch (1989)
The Olivaceous Cormorant is now generally called the Neotropic Cormorant

The Common Black-Hawk (Buteogallus antracinus) has been split in the Mangrove Black-Hawk (Buteogallus subtilis) that is only found at the Pacific coast and the nominate race that is found throughout Costa Rica. We considered all the Black-Hawk we saw on both coasts to be Common Black-Hawks.
