We stayed in Fribourg, which is in the plain of Switzerland between the Alps and the Jura Mountains - an area which is probably rarely visited by birdwatchers, compared with the more spectacular Alpine regions...Allan Finlayson reports.

	Switzerland 10-13 June, 2010 Confiding pairs of Rock Partridge and Rock Ptarmigan, prolonged views of up to seven displaying male Black Grouse and a hammering male Three-toed Woodpecker were our best sightings...Remco Hofland reports

Then towards the top of this path section, we flushed a group of Hazel Grouse from in front of us. About 10 birds scattered in all directions. One, however, landed in a tree adjacent to us, perhaps 30 metres away...Nick Crouch reports.

Obertoggenburg is a realible spot for Hazelhen, Three-toed Woodpecker and when you're lucky Pygmy owl. Jan recorded Hazelhen on 4 of 5 visits, Three-toed Woodpecker on 3 of 5 visits and Pygmy Owl at one visit during the day! Also realaible spot for Black Woodpecker and Ring Ouzel....Justin Jansen reports
