A Report from birdtours.co.uk

Rio Guadalhorce update,

John Judge

I have just returned from Spain about three weeks ago and would like to update you on the situation at the Rio Guadalhorce site Nr Malaga.  You can now gain access to the reserve by driving down the western side of the "old" river and parking in a small car park at the end near the sea.  There is now a solid shingle bank that cuts the river off from the sea (I didn't check upstream but I presume that the river is now either a reservoir or they have piped it into the sea) and you can now walk across to the reserve.

(Editors note: this may be a seasonal feature, but it is nice to be able to access the reserve once again!)

There were lots of Audouins Gulls on the bigger pool Black-winged Stilts breeding Kentish Plovers Night Herons etc nothing special but he potential is there.   (In May 1998 I had a Rufous Bushchat)
