The Canopy Tower
- Ecolodge and Nature Observatory
- Awaken to a tropical chorus
of motmots, toucans, and fruitcrows.Your bedroom is at treetop
level, no more than 40 feet from the birds. In the cool
Panamanian dawn you can feel Panamá's great rainforest
awakening around you. Blue Cotingas and Green Shrike-Vireos,
birds normally glimpsed high in the tops of trees, perch
right outside your Canopy Tower room......Read

The Canopy Lodge
- Inches from your bedroom window, the cloud forest
canopy is riotous with early morning bird life....
Fruit, fresh-baked pastry, and hearty coffee
(or tea) in hand, you sit on a veranda surrounded by hummingbirds
and tanagers taking their breakfast and add to your life
list......

Panama May/June
- 2006 399 Bird
Species recorded
- Moving on, just a few of the
group got to see a Black-faced Antthrush which had run
across the track between the group, but right beside
us, literally six feet away we enjoyed fantastic views
of a Stripe-cheeked Woodpecker which
had no concern at all that we were even there!....Steve

Panama July
2003
- After lunch, we packed up our bags and spent
some time on top of the tower adding a Plumbeous Kite, soaring
well overhead. We then headed to Plantation Trail. We walked
a very short way down Plantation Trail and were lucky to find
an ant swarm that had Ocellated Antbird, two Spotted Antbirds,
a Bicolored Antbird, and a Royal Flycatcher...Jim Holmes

Panama March
-April 2002
- From March 2 through April 12 I was in Panama.
Most birding was solo, but I did do two trips with the Panama
Audubon Society, who do some interesting and relatively inexpensive
field trips on a regular basis....I saw 459 species, and heard
another 10, for a trip total of 469. 33 were lifers, and another
25 were new North American birds...Dave Klauber

Birds observed in Panama 24-28
March 2001
- Cindy and I had a very enjoyable trip to
Panama. We spent the entire trip in central Panama, mostly within
the former Canal Zone. We stayed at the Canopy Tower ....The
Canopy Tower is located with Soberania National Park and is surrounded
by quality forest. The birding along the road down Semaphore
Hill and on the Plantation Trail was nothing short of fantastic...Mark
Lockwood reports.
Central Panama March
10th - 20th 2000
- The following is a summary of a birding trip
to Panama from March 10 through March 20, 2000. I have birded
in Panama three times before and this was a chance to re-acquaint
myself with the myriad of species found on PipelineRoad and the
surrounding area...Jim Danzenbaker reports.
