Giant Squirrel Seen at Bodhinigala and Sinharajah - with the highest count being 2.
Indian Palm Squirrel Seen most days, the commonest squirrel sp.
Layard's Flameback Squirrel Singles seen at Sinharajah and Gilimale Forests.
Dusky-striped Squirrel Singles at Victoria Park and Horton Plains.
Purple-faced Leaf Monkey Seen at Bodhinigala in good numbers.
Bear Monkey Subspecies of above, seen on Horton Plains. Big and furry!
Toque Macaque The commonest monkey. Seen in variety of habitats and altitudes.
Grey Langur Very much a lowland, dry zone monkey, seen on all jeep drives.
Indian Elephant A count of 20+ at Udawalawe included a herd of 12+.
Water Buffalo Wild animals seen at Udawalawe, Bundala and Yala.
Indian Brown Mongoose Seen on several dates.
Ruddy Mongoose Only seen twice at Yala and on drive to Newera Eliya.
Stripe-necked Mongoose Appeared briefly whilst we were watching the Whistling Thrush.
Golden Jackal Seen Bundala & Yala - where one was very confiding.
Wild Boar Only seen at Yala briefly and on edge of park the day after.
Spotted Deer Very common at Yala.
Sambar One in car park at Yala and 1 in road on Horton Plains.
Indian Flying Fox Seen on several dates, with a big roost at Peradinya Botanical Gardens.
Indian Smooth-coated Otter 2 in headlights briefly on way to Bundala.
